Softball Swept by No. 8 Rollins

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team dropped their Sunshine State Conference double-header to Rollins College Saturday afternoon at Lake Island Park.  The No. 8 Tars run-ruled the Tritons in both games, shutting Eckerd out 10-0 in game one, then repeating that score in game two.

Rollins collected five hits and six runs in the top of the first inning to take a 6-0 lead over the Tritons in the first game of the double header.  The Tars continued to score more runs to make their total run count to 10, scoring one in the third and three in the fourth inning.  Tars starting pitcher Christine Roser held the Tritons to only one hit, which came off the bat of Meagan Camp in the top of fifth inning.

Game two was the same story for Rollins, collecting 11 hits and 10 runs within the first five innings of the game.  Eckerd was able to scatter three hits off of the Tar pitching, which came from Camp, Mackenzie Dawson, and Sarah Agnew.

The Tritons will return to action Friday, April 23, as they travel over to Lynn University to take on the Fighting Knights for a SSC series.  The game on Friday is set to start at 2:30 pm.
