Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – With Anthony Katchuk's complete game stellar performance on the mound and the help of Chris Clinton's grand slam in the bottom of the second inning, the Eckerd baseball team took out Clearwater Christian College 12-1 Tuesday night at the Turley Athletic Complex.  The Tritons improve their record to 17-20.

Eckerd was able to bat through the line up in the second inning, producing five hits and seven runs. Eckerd's first run of the game came from a bases loaded hit-by-pitch off of Wess Hollins.  Shortly after, Clinton hit a grand slam blast over the left field fence that gave the Tritons the 5-0 advantage. Eckerd scored their last two runs of the inning off of Joe Dabah's base hit up the middle.  Eckerd scored four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, making it an 11-0 game.

The only run for Clearwater Christian came in the top of the fifth inning when Matt Vazquez connected with a home-run to left field to make it an 11-1 game.  After giving up the home run, Katchuk was able to sit down the side, displaying lights-out pitching, only giving up one hit, two walks, and no runs for the remainder of the game.  He pitched nine strong innings, allowing five hits, one run, four walks, and struck out three batters.   Katchuk improves his record to 3-2.

Five Triton hitters had two hits a piece, which were Hollins, Matt Abraham, Minner Labrador, David Regidor, and Aaron Shapiro.  Labrador, Regidor, and Shapiro picked up two runs a piece, while Hollins and Dabah each had two runs batted in.

The Tritons will return to action Friday, April 16, as they get set to host Sunshine State Conference foe Rollins College for the opener of their SSC conference series.  First pitch is set to be thrown at 7:00 pm.
