ORLANDO, Fla. - Eckerd College softball's Alex Sasso was tabbed as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, which was announced by conference commissioner Jay Jones for the week of April 12.
The sophomore from Holbrook, New York had a stellar performance at the plate while the Tritons went 4-1 on the week, which included a conference series wins over Florida Tech. Sasso batted .556 with four runs and totaled in eight runs batted in. She accumulated 10 hits on the week, four of which were for extra bases where she had three doubles and one triple. Sasso had a .833 slugging percentage and a .556 on base percentage.
In the conference series with Florida Tech, Sasso went 7-for-10, where two of those hits were doubles and had one stolen base.
The Tritons (14-27-1, 4-11 SSC) will continue conference play this weekend as they travel over to Winter Park, Florida to take on Rollins College, who currently are ranked No. 10 in the nation and first in the SSC. Their first game of the series takes place Friday, April 16, at 7:00 pm at Lake Island Park.
