Men's Tennis Edges No. 37 Florida Tech, 5-4

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team earned their second conference win of the season by defeating Florida Tech Tuesday afternoon.  The Panthers are currently ranked 37th nationally and ninth regionally.  Their record is now 6-10 overall and 1-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.


Eckerd won three matches during singles play.  Ben Maxell took out his No. 1 opponent 6-3, 6-3.  Adam Hopkins went into three sets against in competition in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.  The final single winner for the Tritons was Alex McDonald, who took out his opponent in No. 5 singles in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

The Tritons took two of the three doubles matches away from Florida Tech.  No. 2 doubles of Jon Bonner and Erik Thunberg won 8-4, while No. 3 James Walker and Aaron Kleefield won 8-6.

Eckerd will be back in action Sunday, March 28th, as they will travel over to Boca Raton, Florida to take on Lynn University.  Match is set to start at 12 noon.
