Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG
, Fla. - The Eckerd Tritons (10-2) used power in one game and strong pitching in another to sweep a doubleheader from the Saint Anselm Hawks (0-2), by scores of 22-9 and 10-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Turley Athletic Complex.

In the top of the first in game one, Saint Anselm jumped out to a 2-0 on an RBI groundout by Robert Kelly and an RBI single by Daniel DeCoste. Eckerd wasted little time responding, getting a leadoff homer by Matt Abraham in the bottom of the inning to cut Saint Anselm's lead in half.

After the Hawks scored another run in the second, Eckerd tied the game in the bottom of the second on a run-scoring triple by Stephen Pelc and a sacrifice fly by David Regidor. Later in the inning, the Tritons would take a 5-3 lead with a pair of two-out RBI on a run-scoring double to center by Matt Heller and a run scored on a Saint Anselm error.

The Hawks, however, would come back to tie the game in the third, taking advantage of a passed ball and an error to score two runs. Once again, Eckerd did not wait long to answer, taking an 11-5 lead on a pair of three-run homers by Wess Hollins, the first of his career, and Minervino Labrador, his first of two such homers.

Eckerd would pad its lead with five runs in the fifth, including a grand slam by Regidor, one run in the sixth and three runs in the seventh

Jake Wilder (1-2) earned the win after pitching the three most effective innings of the five pitchers Eckerd used.

In game two, Eckerd jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first, batting around while using three doubles to help push across those four runs. After Saint Anselm scored a run in the third, Eckerd added two runs in the bottom half of that inning, on a pair of run-scoring doubles by Oliver Killoren and Pelc, making it 6-1 and putting the game out of reach.

Joey Cuda (3-0) earned the victory after throwing six strong innings, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four.

Eckerd will return to action on Friday, March 5 as it hosts Tampa at 7pm to open SSC play.
