Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG
, Fla. - Minervino Labrador went 2-for-2 with four runs, two homers and six RBI while Matt Heller went 3-for-5 with six runs and six RBI as the Eckerd Tritons (6-2) would go on to rout the Clearwater Christian Cougars (0-5), 35-7 on Thursday evening.

Things got off to an inauspicious start as the Cougars scored four runs in the top of the first, including a two-run homer by Zack Weber. Eckerd responded by getting two of those runs back in the bottom of the first on a two-run single by Chris Clinton.

After Clearwater Christian made it 6-2 in the top of the second, the Tritons responded with a five spot in the bottom half of the inning, including an RBI fielder's choice by Matt Abraham, a two-run single by Matt Heller and a two-run shot by Minervino Labrador.

Ahead 7-6, Eckerd starter Anthony Katchuk allowed one more run in the top of the third before being relieved by Marc Reed.

With a 7-7 tie in the bottom of the third, Eckerd took a 12-7 lead after a two-run double by Heller and a three-run, opposite field blast by Labrador. The Tritons then would go to score 22 more unanswered runs.

Reed earned his first collegiate win after throwing an inning and a third of hitless ball while striking out two Cougars while Luis Ramos was saddled with the loss.

Eckerd will return to the diamond on Tuesday, February 23 as it hosts Southeastern at 7pm.
