ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Minervino Labrador went 3-for-5 with two homers while driving in four runs to help lead the Eckerd Tritons (3-1) past the Clearwater Christian Cougars (0-4), 20-6, on Thursday evening at Northside Christian School.
The Tritons jumped out to a 5-0 lead with five runs in the second inning, three of which came on a three-run blast by
Oliver Killoren, his third homerun of the season and the first of four hit in the game for Eckerd.
Eckerd made more noise in the fourth inning as Labrador and
Chris Clinton would go back-to-back on a pair of jacks, making it 9-1. Labrador would cap his productive evening with a three-run shot in the sixth.
Matt Abraham also went 3-for-6 with three doubles and four runs driven in while
Matt Heller went 4-for-7 with two doubles.
Anthony Katchuk (1-0) earned the victory after going five complete innings while allowing just one one run on two hits. Brent Kirkley took the loss for the Cougars.
Eckerd will return to action on Saturday, February 13 as it hosts Palm Beach Atlantic in doubleheader action beginning at 2pm at the Turley Athletic Complex.
