Eckerd Softball Concludes Season with Two Losses to Lynn

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd Tritons (21-38, 4-20 SSC) concluded the 2009 season with a pair of 2-0 losses at the hands of the Lynn Fighting Knights (19-29, 5-17 SSC) on Saturday at the Turley Athletic Complex.

In game one, Lynn took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a single by Mika Tatar. The Knights would score an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a run-scoring bloop single by Brittany Gross.

Lynn starter Cristie Kaufman threw the second of three shutouts for the Knights in the series, going the distance while allowing just one two hits while striking out six. #Alex Koronkiewicz# took the tough-luck loss for Eckerd after allowing one earned runs.

Game two was another pitcher's duel as Lynn's Amber Havnar and Eckerd's #Mackenzie Dawson@ continued to put zeros on the board until the top of the eighth when Lynn's Meghan Osborne broke the tie with an RBI double which was later added to by a run-scoring single by Havnar.

Havnar would hold the lead in the eighth and would earn the win after allowing just three hits while striking out two.

Saturday also drew to a close the careers of Danielle and Janielle Sedoris who end their careers first and second, respectively, on the all-time Eckerd softball games played list.
