ST. PETERSBURG – Three different Tritons found the back of the net as the Eckerd women's soccer team blanked Flagler by a score of 3-0 Wednesday night at Johnson Field.
Eckerd controlled the opening half, out-shooting the Saints 9-0 while taking a 2-0 advantage into the break.
Ashley Nelson opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing off a feed from Nell Doe for her third goal of the season. The Tritons doubled their advantage just before halftime as Kailani Casazza found the back of the net in the 42nd minute off an assist from Helen Scheer.
Flagler generated its first chances after the break, but Madi Winn kept the Saints off the board with saves in the 60th and 88th minutes. Eckerd continued to apply pressure on the opposite end before Ava Costa put the game away in the 81st minute, scoring off a Lisa Fureh assist for the 3-0 advantage.
The Tritons finished with a 16-4 advantage in shots, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal, while also holding a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Doe paced Eckerd with five shots, while Winn made two saves to record the clean sheet.
Eckerd improves to 3-1-1 on the season.
The team will be back in action on Saturday to host No. 20 Embry-Riddle to begin SSC play.
