ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against the No. 20 ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles in its conference opener on Saturday evening.

The Tritons controlled much of the attacking play in the opening half, firing nine shots while holding the Eagles without an attempt. Ava Costa and Freija Aflenzer each tested the Embry-Riddle goalkeeper early, while Aflenzer forced another save in the 20th minute. Helen Scheer added another shot on frame later in the half as Eckerd continued to pressure the Eagles' defense. Eckerd saw five of its nine looks come within the first 20 minutes.

Eckerd kept the pressure on after the break and finished the contest with a 12-2 advantage in shots, including a 6-0 edge in shots on goal. Aflenzer led the Tritons with three attempts and two on target, while Costa and Ashley Nelson each added two shots. The Eckerd defense did not allow on an Embry-Riddle attempt on target.

Eckerd moves to 3-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in SSC play. The team will be back in action Wednesday against Florida Southern.
