Women's soccer defeated by Columbus State

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Eckerd women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, falling on the road to the Columbus State Cougars by a score of 6-0.

Columbus State jumped ahead early, scoring three times over a nine-minute stretch in the opening half, beginning with a tally n the 11th minute. The Cougars added another in the 16th and 20th to bring a 3-0 lead into the halftime break. The home team added three more goals after the break, scoring in the 60th, 84th and 89th minutes.

Eckerd generated all four of its shots in the second half, with Lisa Fureh, Ashley Nelson, Jillian Doerger and Kailani Casazza each recording an attempt.

Madi Winn made nine saves in goal for the Tritons.

Eckerd moves to 2-1-1 on the season. The team will return home to face Flagler on Wednesday.
