FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Eckerd Tritons men's basketball team was defeated by the No. 2 ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks on Wednesday by a final of 102-57.
The Sharks jumped out to a 52-22 halftime lead after shooting 50 percent of the field and holding the Tritons to just a 21 percent mark. After Nova jumped out to a 9-1 lead,
Koa Baker connected on the first field goal for Eckerd before a three-point play by
Timothy Thompson brought the team within three after four minutes of action. The Sharks countered with the game's next 12 points to build a double-digit advantage and reached a 20-point margin with a little over eight minutes left in the half.
Caden Walton scored eight points for Eckerd in the opening 20 minutes.
The Tritons saw a much-improved offensive showing in the second half, hitting 41 percent of their looks and 6-12 from behind the three-point line.
Jackson Britt scored all 11 of his points in the final period, connecting on half of his eight attempts. Walton added nine more to his total for a team-high 17 on 7-9 shooting. Thompson finished with eight boards to lead the team on the glass.
Eckerd will be back in action Saturday at Rollins.
