ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons women's golf team finished in third place out of 11 teams, and the highest among SSC schools, at the Eckerd Invitational across Monday and Tuesday.
Sophie Foulds led the way for the Tritons with a third-place standing individually. Foulds was in third after the first two rounds after she shot 70 and 74 to sit at even-par. Her first-round score of 70 was tied with two other golfers for the best of the first 18 holes. She closed out the tournament on Tuesday with a 74 to remain in the top three.
Melissa Ball earned 15th overall, bouncing back from a rough round two with a score of 76 on Tuesday. Ball was 1-under par following the first round.
Aubane Statiotis moved up one spot on Tuesday into a tie for 31st. She shot round scores of 77 and 79 on Monday and followed it up with a tournament-best 76 in round three.
Camille Padieu had a very strong third round, moving up nine spots with a 75 to earn 4th overall, while
Sofia Dyhre rounded out the Eckerd lineup in 54th.
Akari Miura was the top individual golfer for the Tritons in 57th.
As a team, Eckerd finished with a score of 903 and was above all five other SSC schools in attendance. The Tritons will be back in action Oct. 6-7 for the St. Simons Intercollegiate.
