Box Score MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Triton softball team loaded the bases with one in the seventh but was unable to push the tying run across, falling to Florida Tech 2-1 in the series opener on the road Friday night.
Eckerd struck early with a run in the third inning on a solo homreun from Hannah Taylor. The Panthers evened the score in the fifth as a run scored on a double steal.
Florida Tech led off the sixth with a double. After a stolen base, the run came around to score on a sacrifice fly for the 2-1 lead. Eckerd rallied in the seventh, loading the bases with one out on a Molly Scott single, a Mia Hernandez fielder's choice, and a Gracie Ciccarello walk. Lex Difato looked to deliver the game-tying hit. However, the left fielder made a diving catch and doubled off a runner to end the game.

- Taylor's home run in the third was her 12th of the season, ranking third in single-season records. She now has 16 for her career.
- Brandilyn Reymer took the loss, allowing just one earned run with seven strikeouts. She has 140 strikeouts on the season.
