FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Eckerd men's basketball team hung close with the top-ranked Sharks in the first half but ultimately fell on the road, 101-85, to No. 1 Nova Southeastern on Saturday afternoon.
The Sharks jumped out to an early 9-0 favor. However, Isaiah Placide scored Eckerd's next 11 points to pull close before three points by Timothy Thomspon gave the Tritons a 14-13 favor at the 12-minute media. The teams swapped leads over the next four minutes before the Sharks used an 11-2 run to push in front for good. NSU took a 44-38 lead at the break.
NSU continued its strong offense to start the second half, pushing to 18 point lead at the 16-minute media. An 11-3 Tritons' run pulled Eckerd within 10 at the 13:35 mark. However, EC was unable to pull any closer as the Sharks held a double-digit advantage the rest of the way, winning the game 101-85.

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Placide led Eckerd with 30 points. He averaged 32.5 points on the week over two nationally-ranked opponents.
- Dante Bouchard posted a career-high 21 points. He also added five rebounds and four assists.
- Wyatt Triestman (12) and Brady Patterson (10) rounded out the double figures scorers off the bench.
- Thompson nearly logged a double-double with a team-leading nine boards and eight points.
