Box Score ST. PETERSBURG -- The Eckerd Tritons women's soccer team came up short against the Rollins Tars on Wednesday night, falling at home by a score of 1-0.
After over 15 minutes of play without a shot attempt to begin the game, the Tars put up consecutive looks at the goal within a two-minute span. The Tritons out-shot the visitors 6-1 in the final 25 minutes of the period, seeing one by
Abby Knipp on target that resulted in a save.
Ava Costa notched a pair of attempts in the first half to help lead the Tritons to a 6-3 advantage in the shots category, but the two teams remained tied after 45 minutes of action.
Zoe Brasher saved the one attempt on the mark she faced for Eckerd.Â
Both offenses picked up in the second half, each stringing together seven shots apiece.
Olivia Ozbolt had two strikes on target within the first 10 minutes of action that were saved by the Rollins keeper, while an attempt in the 82nd minute by
Jasmine Gallo narrowly missed off the crossbar. The Tars sent in the game-winning goal in the 88th minute to steal the contest with a final of 1-0.Â
With the loss, the Tritons drop to 3-4-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the SSC. The team will hit the road to face Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday.
