WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Eckerd women's basketball team rebounded from a two-game skid, with a 63-54 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic on the road on Saturday afternoon fueled by a dominant third quarter.
Eckerd set the tone early in the first half, jumping out to a 17-15 lead after the first quarter, with Lisa Michaelsen and Jaylen Ostenson knocking down shots from beyond the arc. The Tritons extended their lead to 32-27 at halftime. Emma Egan provided a spark off the bench, while Chance Bucher's four boards in the frame allowed the Tritons to build up to a 32-27 lead at the half.
In the second half, Eckerd pulled away with a dominant third-quarter performance, outscoring Palm Beach Atlantic 20-11 to build a double-digit advantage. The Tritons' perimeter shooting improved, with Ostenson, Greta Carollo and Bucher knocking down clutch 3-pointers. The Tritons maintained a double-digit lead for a majority of the second half. A late push by Palm Beach Atlantic in the fourth quarter brought the Sailfish deficit back to single digits, however, Eckerd's composure at the free throw line helped them secure the 63-54 victory.
