MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Eckerd women's soccer team fell 1-0 to open SSC play on the road against Barry on Saturday night.
The Tritons opened the game with offensive pressure, firing off two shots in the opening two minutes. Barry countered with a flurry of shots, one of which was turned aside by Tritons' goalkeeper Cadence Talbert. Barry's lone goal came early in the 22nd minute when Alia Jaidi found the back of the net off a right-footed strike, assisted by Honora Kahwach. Eckerd had a couple of chances late in the half to equalize before the break, but went into halftime trailing 1-0.
Despite the goal, Eckerd responded with relentless offensive pressure, especially in the latter half of the match. They peppered Barry's goalkeeper with six shots in the second frame, none of which were able to find their way to the back of the net. Although Eckerd dominated possession and created several scoring opportunities, they were unable to break through Barry's defense, falling 1-0.
