Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team fell in conference play to Palm Beach Atlantic 6-1 on the road on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tritons (7-8) fell to the Sailfish (2-10) after dropping the doubles point in a split decision and winning one singles match.
Mario Kirkov and Marshall Hulett grinded out a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak win in the No. 2 doubles position.
Batu Ataseven and Kirkov battled hard in singles play in the top two pairings. Ataseven rallied back from a 6-4 set one deficit, to force a third set by taking set two 6-1. He fell in the third set 10-7. Kirkov opened singles with a 6-4 first set victory in the No. 2 position before dropping the ensuing two sets 6-1, 10-5.
Hulett picked up the lone Triton point on the day in the No. 4 singles. He defeated Reich 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
The Tritons take a short break before they resume play next Wednesday as they travel to Winter Park, Fla. to face Rollins at 3:00 PM.
