ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's basketball team dropped its Sunshine State Conference Contest with Tampa at the McArthur Center by a score of 89-77 on Wednesday night.
Eckerd started the game on a 7-0 run before pushing in front 12-2. Tampa rallied to pull within two at the 16-minute mark. EC went back up by eight before using an 8-0 stretch to take a 28-18 favor at the 7:12 mark. The Tritons maintained a double-digit lead until the final two minutes as the Spartans used an 8-0 run to pull within four, 37-33, at intermission.
UT used a 10-0 run to start the second half and take the lead for good. Tampa followed with a 10-4 run to take a nine-point edge at the 13-minute mark. The Spartans went in front by 10 a minute later and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
