DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A low-scoring bout between the Tritons and Eagles saw the Eckerd women's basketball team fall 56-49 on the road on Wednesday night.
After over a minute of scoreless action to begin the game, ERAU opened the game with a layup for the 2-0 favor. Chance Bucher equalized once before the Eagles began to pull away. Embry-Riddle worked to a nine-point favor before a 5-0 run by Lauryn Vieira and Hannah Wentworth in the final minute of the quarter narrowed the deficit 16-12. Ieva Korzane and Vieira brought the Tritons within two at the 5:20 mark of the second frame when the teams began to trade baskets. Eckerd trailed 24-22 heading into the break.
Eckerd dominated the third quarter, taking its first lead of the game at the 8:55 mark. EC held the advantage for the duration of the frame with Vieira and Bucher combining for 10 points in the quarter. After knotting the game at 39 a piece to start the final frame, the Eagles pulled back into the lead. A 7-0 run by ERAU gave the Eagles a six-point cushion. Eckerd fought back to tie the game at 45 with 3:28 remaining, but slipped as the Eagles took the game 56-49.

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Kowalska posted a double-double with a team-leading 11 rebounds and 10 points.
- Vieira rounded out double-digit figure scorers with 18 points.
- Vieira added five rebounds and four steals in the contest.
- With 98 steals on the season, Vieira is now the single-season steals record holder, surpassing Tameron Ambrister's 95 from the 2006-07 season.
