Tritons Fall at Allen, 69-62

COLUMBIA, SC - A strong start to the second half by Allen was the difference as the Eckerd men's basketball team dropped a road contest to Allen 69-62 on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams struggled offensively early on as Allen held a 9-4 favor at the 12-minute media. AU pushed in front by seven, but Eckerd followed with a 12-4 run to take a one-point favor with 1:56 left before the Yellow Jackets took a 25-24 edge at intermission.

After a back-and-forth start to the second half, AU went on a 13-2 stretch to take an 11-point favor with 12:53 left.   Allen went up by 15 points before Eckerd went on a 12-2 run to pull within five points with 2:26 left. However, the Tritons were unable to make up the difference down the stretch.

NOTES AND NUMBERS 

• Koa Baker posted a double-double with a season-high 23 points and 14 rebounds. He also added three steals. 
• Isaiah Placide (13) and Kent Garard (10) added double-figures. 
• Garard tallied eight boards, while Timothy Thompson posted seven. 
• Thompson added three blocks. 
• The Tritons shot 37.7 percent from the floor.
