LAKELAND, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team earned a hard-fought five-set victory over Florida Southern on the road Tuesday night. The teams traded sets, but the Tritons pulled away in the final for a 3-2 victory.
FSC rolled off eight straight points late in the opener to take a 20-15 favor, but Eckerd answered with a 10-3 run to take the set. The Mocs gained a slight lead midway through the second set and held onto it to take the second stanza. The Mocs took a late 22-20 lead, but EC posted five consecutive points to take a 2-1 set lead. Despite a late 6-1 run to even the score at 23-23, the Tritons dropped set four. However, Eckerd responded with a 10-3 start to the fifth set before winning it.
