BOCA RATON, Fla. - A back-and-forth game came down to the final seconds as the Eckerd men's basketball team was unable to put up the game-winner in the final seconds to fall on the road at Lynn, 83-82, Wednesday night.
Eckerd and Lynn swapped leads throughout the first half, with neither team able to generate more than a two-possession lead. Lynn held a five-point favor with three minutes left before EC went on an 11-3 run to end the half up 47-44.
After an initial layup by the Knights in the second half, Eckerd went on a 14-7 stretch to take an eight-point advantage at the 13:17 mark. LU followed with an 11-3 run to even the score at 69-69 with seven minutes left. The teams swapped leads the rest of the way, staying within two possessions of each other. Four straight points by Kent Garard gave Eckerd a one-point edge with 35 seconds left. However, Lynn drew a foul on the ensuing possession and knocked down both free throws to take back the lead. The Tritons had two chances under the basket with seconds left but were unable to complete the comeback.

- George Kimble led Eckerd with 23 points, while Isaiah Placide and Kent Garard led the double-figure scorers with 19 and 12, respectively.

- Eckerd shot 45.6 percent from the floor compared to the Knights' 57.7 percent clip.
