Tritons Complete Bounce Back Victory Over Panthers

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.  -  A pair of double-doubles by Bella Green and Lauryn Vieira paced the Tritons' women's basketball team for their bounce-back 73-54 victory over the Panthers at the McArthur Center on Wednesday night.

The Panthers led early, going up 3-0 in the opening two minutes. A layup by Martyna Kowalska tied the score at six at the 6:50 mark of the first quarter. A layup by Vieira on the Tritons' next possession gave Eckerd its first lead of the game before Florida Tech brought it back to a tie. A six-point run towards the end of the frame helped the Panthers to finish the quarter with a five-point favor, 15-10. Florida Tech rolled to a double-digit lead just over a minute into the second period. Eckerd clawed back to tie the score at 30-all with 2:01 remaining in the half. Both teams traded baskets and leads for the remainder of the frame when a last-second layup by Vieira gave the Tritons a 34-36 advantage heading into the break.

After taking the lead in the final seconds of the first half, Eckerd did not look back. A six-point run late in the third quarter saw the Tritons with a 48-40 advantage heading into the final ten minutes of action.
