ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Caroline Bunker's second goal in as many games knotted the score at 1-1, but the Eckerd women's soccer team was unable to take the lead, falling to St. Edward's (Texas) 2-1 at Johnson Field on Friday night.
The Hilltoppers jumped out to an early lead with a goal by Ari Ramirez in the sixth minute. Bunker evened the scales for the Tritons, scoring her second goal of the season off a long-distance feed from Aisling Spillane in the 33rd minute. Eckerd locked down on defense in the second half, allowing only two shots in the final 45 minutes. The Tritons had a few quality chances to tie the score, but Hannah Simpson turned aside three shots from Bunker, Kendall Drummond, and Jillian Doerger.
