ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Abby Knipp's first career goal in the 48th minute secured the 3-1 Triton women's soccer team's victory over the Webber International Warriors at Johnson Field on Tuesday night.
Caroline Bunker opened the scoring for the Tritons in the 29th minute on a breakaway as she headed the ball over the Warriors keeper for an open shot on net. Cadence Talbert stood tall in goal in the opening frame, stopping all three shots on goal in the first 45 minutes as EC took a 1-0 lead into intermission.
Abby Knipp netted her first career goal just three minutes into the second half off a cross from Kendall Drummond to put Eckerd up 2-0. After a pair of good chances from Rakel Holmarsdottir and Drummond, Kaia Senecal scored her first of the season to give the Tritons a more comfortable lead in the 53rd minute. The cushion was quickly silenced as the Warriors responded with a goal of their own to narrow the score to 3-1. Eckerd was able to keep Webber off the board for the remainder of the game to take the victory 3-1.
