SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team fell 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon to the No. 1 Lions on the road at Saint Leo.
The Tritons (8-7) fell to the Lions (18-1) after dropping the doubles point and all six singles matches.
Eckerd's top pairing of Esteve Augusti and Batu Ataseven put up a fight in the No. 1 draw against the No. 22 nationally-ranked tandem of Vincent Thiel and Ghali Mensour but fell 6-4. Christian Kearns and Jon William Karlstad also won two games in the No. 3 draw before falling 6-2.
Kearns was the only Triton to win a set in singles play, taking the first set 7-6 (7-4). He fell to Mensour 6-4 and 10-7. Ataseven also came close in set one, only falling 7-5, before falling to Thiel 6-3 in set two.
The Tritons return to the Bullard Courts for the final time of the regular season tomorrow at 3:00 PM against Lynn.
