BRADENTON, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team fell 4-0 in the Sunshine State Conference tournament to the top-seeded Saint Leo at the IMG Academy on Thursday morning.
The Tritons (8-10) fell to the Lions (20-1) after dropping the doubles point, and three singles matches.
The Tritons dropped the doubles point in the No. 2 and No. 3 slots. The Lions clinched the point with a 6-2 win in the second pairing and a 6-3 victory in the third. The top flight went unfinished as Martin Soukal and Vincent Thiel led Batu Ataseven and Esteve Augusti 4-3.
The top three singles flights went unfinished as Saint Leo secured the victory in the bottom three draws. Eric Asakura won five games, falling in the No. 4 slot 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 2 draw, Ataseven only fell 7-6 in set one when the match was discontinued. Sam Walker competed in his final match as a Triton, putting up four game wins in set two, ultimately falling 6-0, 6-4.
