MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team fell 6-1 in its final regular season match to the No. 3 Buccaneers Saturday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
The Tritons (8-9) fell to the Bucs (15-5) after taking the doubles point in a split decision and all six singles matches.Â
The Tritons upset the Bucs in the doubles point, as Esteve Augusti and Batu Ataseven knocked off the top pairing of Tim Büttner and Bastien Reime 6-3. Christian Kearns and Jon William Karlstad completed the doubles win in the No. 3 slot, taking down Quinn McLeod and Roberto Campoverde 6-2.Â
Augusti battled in the top seed, fighting back from a 6-2 first set to take set two 7-5. He barely fell in set three 10-7. Ataseven came close in the No. 2 draw, ultimately falling 6-4, 6-3. Sam Walker won six games against McLeod in the No. 5 position.Â
The Tritons await their seeding in the Sunshine State Conference tournament held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida on April 20.Â
