Tritons Place Third at Barry Women’s Invitational

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Tritons women's golf team took on a stacked field at the Barry Women's Invitational, facing off against seven of the top-25 programs in Division II at the Miami Shore Country Club. Eckerd posted its best finish of the spring campaign, placing third, including a four-stroke advantage over No. 1 Lynn on Monday and Tuesday.

Four Tritons - Amelie Alcantara, Apryl Parker, Sandra Eriksson, and Melissa Ball- posted top-25 finishes. Eckerd fired rounds of 307 and 300 on Monday and finished with a 296 to vault three spots up the leaderboard for a three-round total of 903. 

Amelie Alcantara (70-70-74) 2nd

  • Alcantara led the field in par 4's, with an even average. 
  • Alcantara tied for third in the event on par 3's, with a 3.08 average. 
  • She ranked third in the field in pars with 36. 
  • She tied for fourth in the tournament in birdies with nine. 

Apryl Parker (79-76-72) T16th

  • Parker added 30 pars and seven birdies. 
  • Parker ranked second on the squad on par 3's, with a 3.33 average. 

Sandra Eriksson (78-77-76) T24th 

  • Eriksson ranked second on the squad in pars with 31
  • Eriksson added four birdies.

Melissa Ball (80-77-74) T24th

  • Ball ranked tied for ninth in the field in birdies with eight. 
  • Ball cared 24 pars. 

Akari Miura (81-83-85) T63

  • Miura cared 23 pars and two birdies. 

NOTES AND NUMBERS

  • Eckerd ranked third in the field on par 4s, with a 4.27 average. 
  • Eckerd carded 144 pars and 30 birdies. 
  • Alcantara was one stroke off the winner. Her 214 was four strokes off her career-low.
  • Alcantara has posted a top-20 finish in all seven events this year, with six top-10 placings. 
  • Parker's final round 72 set a career-low. Her three-round total of 227 also set a career-low by five strokes. 
  • Ellen Andersson of Nova Southeastern claimed low-medalist honors with a 213. 
  • NSU won the team title with an 872.
