Green's Double-Double Lifts Tritons Over Roadrunners

DENVER, Colo. - A double-double by Bella Green lifted the Tritons' women's basketball team to a 72-59 victory over the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners on Friday night at the Auraria Events Center. 

Green opened the scoring for the Tritons just over a minute into the game. Green and the Roadrunners exchanged baskets twice for the only times the score was tied. Chance Bucher gave the Tritons a 6-4 lead with just over seven minutes to go in the opening frame. Eckerd would not lose its lead for the remainder of the game as EC finished the first quarter with a 16-9 favor. Eckerd worked to a 20-point lead in the second quarter before finishing the half up 36-19. 

Lauryn Vieira shot 2-for-2 from the floor in the third quarter, with a team-leading four points in the frame. She shot a perfect 4-for-4 on the night for ten points. Green added another six points in the closing frame en route to the Tritons' 72-59

NOTES AND NUMBERS 

  • Green posted 18 points and 16 boards for her first double-double of the season. Her 16 rebounds set a career-high.
  • Four Tritons scored double-digit figures: Green (18), Bucher (12), Vieira (10), Ieva Korzane (10). 
  • Korzane's 10 points set a career-high. 
  • Green's 16 boards are the most by a Triton since Maya Price had 17 on December 10, 2022. 
  • Eckerd outscored MSUD 21-5 off turnovers. 
  • Vieira led with five steals, while Green added three. 
  • The Tritons bench outscored the Roadrunners' bench 26-22, with Bucher contributing 12 points to top the bench.
