Tritons Cruise Past Nova Southeastern in Three Sets

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team opened its five-game homestand with a dominant win over Nova Southeastern, taking the match in three sets at the McArthur Center Friday night. 

After trading points midway through the first set, Eckerd went on a run of eight strength points to cap the set, winning it 25-15. An early 5-0 run and a late 5-1 stretch fueled EC as they took the second stanza 25-17. The Tritons trailed by a few points midway through the final stanza but rallied to cap the set on a 10-3 stretch to take the match 25-20.

FINAL: Eckerd 3, Nova Southeastern 0  (25-15, 25-17, 25-20)
RECORDS: Eckerd 11-3 (4-3 SSC); Nova Southeastern 7-6 (3-4 SSC) 

NOTES AND NUMBERS 

  • Nyla Muskivin and Seiler Hruska led Eckerd with 10 kills each.
  • Eckerd boasted a .319 hitting percentage. 
  • Sarah Sampson led Eckerd with 20 assists, while Aleksa Curta had 18. 
  • Ashley Eck led EC's defense with 11 digs, while Hruska had eight. 
  • Eckerd posted 12 service aces, the most in SSC action this year.
