Tritons Dismantle No. 16 Sharks, 5-0

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -  A hat-trick by Aisling Spillane, a brace by Brooke Bisko, and a career-high 18 saves by Cadence Talbert in goal led the Eckerd women's soccer team to victory, handing the No. 16 Nova Southeastern Sharks their first loss of the season with a 5-0 upset victory on Wednesday night on the road.

The Sharks opened the game, firing early and often, as Talbert turned aside back-to-back shots to fend off Nova Southeastern. Not long after, Spillane put the Tritons on the board with her first goal of the night for an early 1-0 favor in the ninth minute, firing a ball from 40 yards out. Eckerd was awarded a penalty kick in the 20th minute, as Spillane converted for her second goal of the night to add some insurance. Despite a two-goal hole, the Sharks were relentless in pursuit to equalize, firing 16 shots in the opening frame, nine of which were silenced by Talbert. Another penalty kick was awarded to the Tritons in the 39th minute, as Spillane completed her hat-trick for a 3-0 Triton lead into the half.

Regardless of a three-goal deficit, the Sharks kept the pressure on, peppering Talbert with shots. She added another nine saves to defend her clean sheet to end the game. Bisko tacked on a second-half brace with goals in the 63rd and 89th minute to shut the door on a 5-0 shutout victory over Nova Southeastern.
