ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Despite several second-half rallies, the Eckerd men's basketball team could not make up the difference falling to No. 20 Embry-Riddle, 87-78, on Wednesday night at the McArthur Center.
After a tight opening five minutes, ERAU went on a 12-1 run to take an 11-point lead at the 12:22 mark. EC cut its deficit to five at the 6:45 mark following a Carr Thiam triple. The Eagles stretched their lead to 14 points four minutes later before taking a 37-26 favor at intermission.
The Eagles pushed out to a 17-point advantage early in the second half before Eckerd went on a 12-1 stretch to pull within six, 46-40, with 14:04 left. The Eagles pushed back out to a double-digit lead multiple times over the rest of the half, with the Tritons trimming their deficit to six each time. However, Eckerd was unable to make up the difference in the final two minutes as they fell 87-78.
