ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- A late first-half run gave the Eckerd men's basketball team an early edge as the Tritons controlled the tempo in the second half to snap their five-game skid topping Barry, 70-62, at the McArthur Center Wednesday night.
EC started the game with six straight points before jumping out to a 15-8 favor. The Buccaneers rallied to take a 23-21 lead at the 9:25 mark. The teams swapped basketball over the next few minutes before Eckerd capped the half on a 10-1 run to take a 38-31 advantage at intermission.
Eckerd pushed out to a 12-point favor, 49-37, at the 13:57 mark, and EC's lead fluctuated between eight and 12 points over the next six minutes. BU cut its deficit to four with 5:20 left, but Eckerd rolled off five straight points to take a 62-53 edge with 3:33 left as Eckerd cruised in the final minutes for the win.
