BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lauryn Vieira and Sofia Persson put up impressive career-highs as the No. 9 Tritons women's basketball team outlasted the Lynn Fighting Knights 64-62 at the De Hoernle Sports Center Wednesday night.
Vieira started off hot for the Tritons, scoring seven points in the opening three minutes of the game. Persson gave Eckerd a 15-8 favor halfway through the frame. Cirkeline Rimdal and Ragnheidur Einarsdottir added a basket each, as the Tritons ended the first quarter leading 21-10. Lynn tallied back to begin the quarter with a quick 5-0 scoring run. Maya Price put the Knights' run to an end. Lynn clawed back at the Triton lead, closing the deficit to two, but Eckerd closed the half with a 33-29 favor.
The Fighting Knights and the Tritons traded buckets to begin the third quarter where Price brought the Triton lead back to six. Persson, Vieira, and Price were the lone three to put up points in the third frame, as the Tritons entered the final quarter leading 49-42. In the final five minutes of the game, Lynn rallied from a nine-point deficit, bringing the game within one with 13 seconds remaining. A free throw by Nicole Scales solidified the Tritons' victory as the Fighting Knights could not get a shot off in the final moments as EC outlasted Lynn 64-62.

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Persson led the team with 30 points, setting a new career-high. Persson is the first Triton to join the 30-point club since Ashley Folsom (32) against Tampa on February 8, 2017.
- Vieira also tallied a career-high with 17 points.
- Persson shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
- Persson and Vieira led the team on the board with six each, while Vieira grabbed three steals and Persson collected two.
