Second-Half Comeback Propels Eckerd Past Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Trailing by as many as 20 midway through the second half, the Eckerd men's basketball team caught fire late in the second half to rally past Lynn, 86-83, at the de Hoernle Center Wednesday night. Eckerd outscored Lynn 38-16 over the final 11 minutes as part of the comeback.

After a 5-5 start, Lynn followed with a 14-5 stretch to take a nine-point favor. LU stayed in front the rest of the half, capping the first frame on an 11-2 stretch to take a 42-28 advantage at the break.

An early 7-0 Knights' run pushed their lead to 20 (53-33) at the 17:11 mark. Lynn maintained its sizable lead over the next six minutes before Eckerd surged with a 21-7 stretch to pull within five, 74-69, at the 6:06 mark. A 10-3 Tritons' run minutes later, capped by a Kent Garard layup, tied the game at 81-81 with 2:12 left. Lynn went up a basket, but a triple by Jordan Kwiecinski with 58 seconds left gave EC the lead for good. Following a pair of missed Lynn free throws, Garard sealed the victory with a putback layup with two seconds left.
