DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Following a back-and-forth contest, the Eckerd men's basketball team surged late with seven straight points to take the lead before sealing the 75-71 victory over Embry-Riddle in the final minute at the ICI Center Saturday night.
The Tritons jumped out to a 7-0 lead. ERAU briefly went in front, but Eckerd quickly regained a five-point favor midway through the first half. EC maintained a slight edge over the next seven minutes before the Eagles took a 34-30 lead. Eckerd used a 7-2 run to regain the lead at the break, 37-36.
Following a 17-3 start to the second half, ERAU took a 53-40 favor. Eckerd responded with 10 straight points to pull within three with 11:24 left. The Eagles' lead fluctuated between four and eight points over the next seven minutes until Jordan Kwiecinski scored seven straight points to give EC a one-point advantage with 1:48 left. ERAU regained the lead, but a Kent Garard jumper and three made free throws down the stretch sealed the win.
