BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - The Eckerd men's golf team opened its fall slate at The Griffin Invitational at Southern Hills Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Eckerd fired rounds of 312-328-310 for a three-round total of 950 and a 12th-place finish.
Shane Darby (75-83-76) 67th
- Darby opened the invitational with 12 straight pars, followed by a birdie on hole No. 8.
- Led the team with 34 pars over the three rounds.
- Led the team with a 3.08 average on par-3s.
Nicholas Zizzo (79-81-77) T70th
- Zizzo posted 30 pars over the invitational.
Josh DiZinno (77-81-80) T72nd
- DiZinno posted an eagle on hole No. 1 in the second round. He was one of just six players to card an eagle in the event.
Andrew Demuth (81-84-78) 79th
- Demuth carded 30 pars over the three rounds.
Joe Lagana (85-83-79) 80th
- Lagana trimmed off strokes in each round.
- Posted 26 pars over the event.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Darby's opening round 75 set a career-low. He posted a three-round total of 234, also marking a career-best.
- Zizzo's final round of 77 is one off his career-low.
- AJ Ewart of Barry claimed low-medalist honors with an 11-under 205.
- West Florida won the event by six strokes with an 848.
