BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team dropped an SSC match at No. 11 Lynn, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Perper Tennis Complex.
The Fighting Knights (10-0, 4-2 SSC) beat the Tritons (4-8, 0-5 SSC) after earning the doubles point and winning five of six singles matches.
The No. 1 duo of Pierre-Olivier Lassalle and Prakrut Patel battled but ultimately lost, 6-2, against Lynn's Will Kirkman and Ignacio Martinez. Christian Kearns and Arthur de Souza Fonseca fell in the No. 2 draw 6-1, and the pairing of Eric Asakura and Arik Suez fell in the No. 3 position 6-0.
No. 28 Lassalle did his best work in singles, edging LU's Diego Gonzalez in the No. 1 slot 6-3 and 6-4 to recapture momentum for EC. However, the Tritons were unable to capitalize, as Prakrut Patel fought out of the No. 2 draw, narrowly losing set one 6-4 before falling in set two 6-3. Fonseca (6-1, 6-0) and Asakura (6-0, 6-0) were outdueled in the No. 3 and No. 4 positions. Suez won six games in the No. 6 draw but lost 6-3 and 6-3 to LU's Rayane Alami.
The Tritons continue their road trip with a match at Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday at 2:00 PM.
