TAMPA, Fla. - Despite a late second-half rally, the Eckerd men's basketball team ultimately fell 79-65 on Saturday to Flagler (Fla.) on the first day of the Tampa Classic at the Bob Martinez Center.
After an initial lead by Eckerd, Flagler went on a 15-4 run to take a six-point lead. The Saints rolled off eight straight points to take a 12-point favor before the Tritons entered the half down 31-22.
In the second half, FC's lead fluctuated between seven and 14 points until the eight-minute mark, where Eckerd cut its deficit to four, 59-55, following an eight-point run. The Tritons hung close over the next four minutes before an Omar Figueroa triple put Flagler back up by 10 with 2:41 left, and the Saints cruised the rest of the way.

- Daniel Love led Eckerd with 21 points and seven boards.
- Love padded his stat line with a career-high six steals. His six steals are the most by a Triton since Marco Behori swiped six against Barry in the SSC Tournament Championship on March 4, 2018.
- Carr Thiam (15) and Dante Bouchard (11) rounded out the double-figure scorers.
- Bouchard went 11-for-13 at the charity stripe.
- Eckerd shot a season-low 28.8 percent from the floor.
- Thiam and Kent Garard grabbed seven rebounds each.
