ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Following a back-and-forth contest, the Eckerd men's basketball team pulled away in the final minute, edging Greensboro (NC), 71-66, at the McArthur Center Wednesday night.
Greensboro jumped out to a 20-13 lead before the Tritons rallied with a 13-2 run to take a 26-22 favor with 5:37 left in the opening half before heading into intermission tied 33-33.
EC and GC stayed within one possession for the first 10 minutes of the second half before the Tritons pushed in front by eight, 59-51, at the 9:27 mark. The Pride followed with a 13-4 run to take a one-point edge with under three minutes left. Eckerd forced a turnover, and Carr Thiam made a pair of free throws to put EC up for good with a minute left as the Tritons made their free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
