VALDOSTA, Ga. - Despite struggling offensively in the first half, the No. 11/16 Eckerd women's basketball team relied on its relentless defense to hold West Florida to a 13.4 shooting percentage on the way to a 53-28 victory at The Complex Saturday afternoon on day two of the SSC-GSC Crossover.
Both teams struggled early in the first quarter, but Eckerd used a 10-1 run to jump in front before taking a 19-6 lead after the first quarter. The teams struggled from the floor in the second period as EC took a 23-11 lead at intermission.
The Tritons used an 11-1 stretch early in the third frame to take a 20-point lead before entering the final stanza up 40-20. Eckerd cruised the rest of the way for a 53-28 victory.

- Maya Price led Eckerd with 19 points, while Sofia Persson added double-digits with 11.
