BOCA RATON, Fla. - After a short hiatus, the Eckerd women's soccer team returned to action on the road as they fell to Lynn, 5-2, Saturday night.
The Fighting Knights wasted no time putting pressure on the Tritons. Anniina Sankoh found the back of the net 21 seconds into the game to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead. Amanda Jansson added to the Knights' lead in the 15th minute. Sankoh tallied her second goal of the night nearly 10 minutes later, giving the Knights a three-goal lead and what would end up being the game-winning goal. The Tritons answered as Andi Wells pulled Eckerd back within two, scoring off a pass from Krystal Torres. A wide shot by freshman Clara Henrikksson in the 39th minute ended the half for the Tritons down by two, 3-2.Â
The Tritons, eager to close the gap, brought the game within one in the 56th minute with a goal from sophomore forward Kendall Drummond. ECÂ could not hold on to the momentum, as Sankoh netted another goal to earn a hat trick on the night. Brigitta Pulins sealed the win for the Knights with a late goal in the 89th minute.Â
