Eckerd Cruises Past Lee In Straight Sets

HOOVER, Ala. - The Eckerd volleyball team used a .268 hitting percentage on the way to a straight sets victory over Lee (Tenn.) on the second day of the South Region Crossover on Saturday. 

Eckerd started the opening set on a 13-6 run and cruised the rest of the way for a 25-19 win. After a tight start to the second stanza, EC used a 9-3 run to take a six-point lead. The Tritons then won the frame 25-17. Eckerd dominated the final set, 25-5.

NOTES AND NUMBERS 

• Stella Antypa led EC with nine kills, while Joelle Coulter had eight. 
• Ashley Eck paced the back row with 17 digs, while Coulter added 10. 
• Antypa posted four aces. 
• Krysten Garrison posted 20 assists, and Sarah Sampson added five. 
• EC had a plus-.250 hitting percentage in each set. 
• Eckerd went undefeated at the crossover.
