WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Eckerd women's basketball team continues its undefeated season, moving to 6-0, after defeating Palm Beach Atlantic, 78-64, Saturday afternoon at Rubin Arena. The Tritons defense continues to lead the way this season, as Eckerd held PBA to just a 32.3 percent shooting percentage from the field.
EC jumped ahead early with a 15-3 run to take a commanding 19-7 lead. However, the Sailfish roared back to pull within four, 19-15, heading into the second frame.
Eckerd's defense was tremendous in the second quarter, holding PBA to shooting just 21 percent from the field in the quarter. A balanced Tritons scoring attack maintained a double-digit EC lead, as five Tritons scored during the second frame. EC went into the half with a 37-25 lead.
Maya Price exploded in the third quarter, scoring 14 of the Tritons' 21 points on 5-for-5 shooting. At the end of the third quarter, Sofia Persson was on triple-double watch, with 13 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.
The fourth quarter continued to be all Tritons, as EC led by as much as 17 to close out the game as EC closed out the game and earned its sixth win, 78-64.
