Eckerd Falls in SSC Road Match at Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team fell in straight sets at Saint Leo Tuesday night at the Marion Bowman Activities Center. 

SLU started the game on a 7-3 stretch and maintained a slight cushion through the set to take it 25-19. The Lions used an 11-4 run early in the second set to take a five-point advantage. However, EC rallied to pull within one point late before Saint Leo capped the set on three straight points to win 25-20. The Tritons jumped out to an 8-3 favor in the final stanza, but the Lions rallied to take the lead late before taking the match at 25-20.

RECORDS: Eckerd 14-11 (5-9 SSC); Saint Leo 10-14 (4-9 SSC)

NOTES AND NUMBERS

• Ranya Mehta led EC with nine kills while Agata Sklepik and Anna Jungjohann added seven each. 
• Jungjohann also added five blocks. 
• Martina Melicherova led the defense with a career-high 12 digs. Aleksa Curta and Krysten Garrison added nine digs each. 
• Garrison narrowly missed a double-double, adding 28 assists. 
• Eckerd splits the season series with Saint Leo, with each team winning at home.
