ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's soccer team hung with the nationally-ranked Panthers Wednesday night at Johnson Field, holding No. 20 Florida Tech scoreless through regulation before the Tritons ultimately fell, 1-0, in overtime.
Both teams were only able to generate one chance on goal in the first half, with neither team able to convert on the opportunity as they entered halftime scoreless.
The Tritons nearly found the back of the net in th 68th minute as Krystal Torres and Tariah Miller fired back-to-back shots, but both attempts were turned back. EC had a similar chance 10 minutes later as Hajar Benjoud and Kaia Senecal registered consecutive shots, but EC was unable to convert. Cadence Talbert turned back two FT attempts inside the final five minutes as the teams entered overtime scoreless.
The Panthers' Allyn Jaime broke the deadlock in the 93rd minute, collecting the rebound from Maren Ndiongue's shot for the game-winner.
