FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team had early momentum against the nationally-ranked Sharks Saturday afternoon. EC took the first set before ultimately falling, 3-1, at No. 17 Nova Southeastern at the Don Taft University Center.
Eckerd used an efficient attack in the opening set, starting the first frame on a 10-3 run, and later using a run of seven straight points to control the first set, 25-17. EC and NSU stayed within two points of each other for the majority of the second stanza, with the Sharks taking the final two points to take the set, 25-22.
The teams swapped leads early in the third set, but the Sharks used a run of four straight points midway through to take the lead before winning 25-20. Nova Southeastern then controlled the last set 25-17.
